I don't know who originally said this, but I recently heard it quoted, "People do not care how much you know before they know how much you care."
How true. Christians who aim to preach and teach need also to remember the words of Paul to the Thessalonians: "We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us."

I think the first person I ever heard say that was Zig Ziglar. It's been quoted by most of the major speakers I've heard.
One of the things we need to remember as Christians is that we're not better than anyone else, and if we can put down our arrogance, maybe we'll actually win hearts.
