The real reason the Wii was invented: Motion-controlled lightsaber battle!

Admit it, at one point in your life, you've longed for a lightsaber. As Obiwan put it when presenting Luke with Anakin's lightsaber in Star Wars: A New Hope, "This is the weapon of a Jedi Knight. Not as clumsy or as random as a blaster, but an elegant weapon for a more civilized age."

Thanks to LucasArts and Nintendo, everyone will get their chance, providing rumours are true and the Lego Star Wars release due this Fall contains Wii remote capabilities for lightsaber duels. I don't have a Wii ... yet. There hasn't been a compelling reason to get one since my friends have them and the only time I'd play is when we've got enough people for Mario Party. Lego Star Wars for the Wii changes that. I can totally imagine cruising around the Star Wars world solo, with my motion-controlled lightsaber in hand and lopping off baddies' arms or cutting Darth Maul in half.

Come on, wife! You know what I want for Christmas!! :-)
