A new Wired News article talks about Hong Konger Edwyn Chan's new www.blogkumedia.com Chinese blog network, which aims to make blogging a mainstream (and commercial) reality for the Chinese internet.
"Chinese characteristics" refers to the common Chinese Communist Party argument that whatever political framework China adopts must be suited to Chinese history and culture. Roughly translated: thousands of years of imperial rule and the Confusion ethic of loyalty to immoral leaders aren't going to end if the CCP has its way.
