Tomorrow, I'll be heading down to Ashford, WA to sign in for my climbing expedition with RMI, a local guide service. The YouTube video shown here is what I'm hoping to see in the wee hours of Monday morning. I'm bringing a camera so hope to post pictures and maybe some of my own YouTube clips next week.
I've been training for this by carrying a pack up and down the parking garage at the Renton Transit Center two times a week after work. Last weekend, I climbed Mailbox Peak, which has a 4,000-ft. elevation gain in just 2.5 miles. But Rainier will be much tougher. It's 4,400 ft. from Camp Muir to the summit, and at a much higher altitude. I'm drinking tons of water right now, cause I've read that helps with the altitude sickness. Anyway, much thanks to my wife for letting me go. I will be as safe as possible.
Wayfaring Stranger is an American folk song that refers to Christians' temporary presence in this world. But while I may travel this world as a stranger, I am not lost; I follow Jesus and my destination is in heaven.
