Flying business class

I've made at least seven trans-Pacific flights in my life--all of them coach. So let's just say that I'm resigned to suckiness on planes. But two blogs I love to read recently made me really curious to know what it's like to fly business class. Also, both these bloggers are extremely entertaining and I thought I'd share what I think is excellent blog writing (informal, rapier wit, and perfect word choice).

The first post is from Heather Hamilton, a recruiting manager for Microsoft who flew down to Sydney on Qantas in business class. As she described it:
"One of the perks (well, technically, I think "perqs" but that looks weird) of working at Microsoft, is flying business class for international trips. I remember flying to Bangkok about ten years ago, in coach, reminding myself never ever to do this again. Going in business class was sweet; upper deck of Qantas baby. It was like laying on my couch watching movies only people kept bringing me stuff to eat and drink and calling me Ms. Hamilton."

The second post is from Imagethief, aka William Moss, a public relations professional from San Francisco who currently lives and works in Shanghai:
"Many of my friends are jaded biz-class veterans long past the state of taking its relatively petty comforts for granted. However for me a glass of champagne before takeoff is still utterly novel, so I reveled in it. The brilliant thing for the client that paid for my ticket is that for a relatively small price in the grand scheme of things, they have pretty much earned my slavish and undying loyalty. Or at least, that’s the way it feels now. But on the plane it took about six minutes for my own sense of entitlement to start settling in. As I sprawled grotesquely in my unaccustomed legroom and watched the economy-class passengers shuffle past me, I thought to myself regally, I wonder where the little people will be sitting today?"

I'm considering a job that might have me flying A LOT. I will probably not take it. :P
