Red-letter christianity: Taking evangelical politics in a new direction

I wrote a post recently titled "Why I don't care about politics". In it, I asked, "Anyway, both illegal immigration and the environment are both issues that the Republican party just isn't doing well on, from my viewpoint. I don't think I'm alone. I wonder how long till a new 'Christian coalition' forms that reflects these same concerns?" Sooner than I'd have thought, it seems.

Christianity Today's October issue featured a little discussion about "Red-Letter Christianity," a movement of evangelical Christians to break religious votes free from both Republican and Democratic party association. Instead, RLCs say that Christians ought to focus on the words of Jesus, which are printed in red letters in some Bibles, instead of the black letters of the Mosaic law.

Sounds promising, though I'm hesitant to proclaim myself entirely like-minded. I am heartened, however.
