Wayfaring Stranger is an American folk song that refers to Christians' temporary presence in this world. But while I may travel this world as a stranger, I am not lost; I follow Jesus and my destination is in heaven.

Growing Chinese soft power
Fast Company has a provocative article on China's newfound creative talent. Reading it, I thought about futuristic movies that incorporate Chinese phrases or somehow show the extent of Chinese influence 20 years from now. I can totally see this happening--Chinese culture will exert more influence around the globe as the country continues to slowly and fitfully liberalize, and as China becomes more integrated with international economies.
Centuries ago, China exerted this type of international cultural and economic influence. I'm planning to see Malacca during our trip to Malaysia in July, and am especially interested in the ancient city-state's relations with China, which were established with Admiral Zheng He's goodwill mission early in the 15th century. I wonder if this next century will see the same type of promulgation of Chinese culture.
