I'd guess that 50 percent of the greater Seattle area is without power right now, myself included. The news reports say last night's wind storm will leave many of us without power for days, which means no Internet access for me at home. Oh well, I guess it's Monopoly by candlelight. At least we can use our gas stove for cooking, though I think we might need to light it with a match.
I remember our last big wind storm in 1993. Power was out for three days, and my dad cooked fried rice in the fireplace (the onions were raw-tasting). Maybe I can provide some similar memories my own family this time ... heh, heh.

how's the power situation? are you guys back amongst the civilized?
Yeah! We're back on the grid. Actually, we only spent a day-and-a-half without power, which is pretty good considering there are still about 150,000 homes in our area without power.
On Sunday, there was no electricity at church (it was really, really cold) but I'd estimate that 80 percent of the congregation still showed up, which is encouraging!
