A true story, part IV

So my aunt lives in a particularly old-school part of Bangkok called Suanplu. She lives there with her adopted daughter and son, my grandmother, and several young migrant workers who traveled to Bangkok from the upcountry to sew t-shirts together all day.

One night last Fall, my cousin was about to go to sleep when she began thinking about the live-in workers and how they had still not known Jesus as their Savior. Suddenly, she felt the irresistable urge to go down to the room the workers were sleeping in and tell them about God. It was somewhat untoward for her to come in at this hour, but she did anyway. She felt passionate, and the right words flowed effortlessly. Before she went down (they live in a five-story shop house), she had taken a Bible and preaching CD. Even though she has been Christian less than two years, my cousin was able to teach about God to a willing group for an hour. Afterwards, they all prayed and the girls were filled with the Holy Spirit. When my cousin went upstairs again, suddenly she felt different, devoid of the energy that had propelled her to do something surprising.

I am amazed at God's plan for us. Just as the book of Acts is a wonderful testimony to the "Acts of the Holy Spirit," so too my family story is a testimony to God's love and power.

If you are reading this and don't yet know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, know that Jesus loves you. He loves you individually, and has a plan for you like He had a plan for my family. Having a relationship with Jesus is simple; it's not about following a religion, but about accepting the gift of God, which is forgiveness for our sins.
