CNET News.com reports the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Human Rights will investigate how to convince U.S.-based Internet operations like Google, MSN, and Yahoo to avoid "working hand-in-glove with a dictatorship," with special reference to the recent MSN Spaces brouhaha (see previous week's blog posts).
In related news, a federal appeals court has dismissed a Yahoo lawsuit, filed to determine whether the company had to abide by French laws banning the online sale of Nazi paraphernalia.
When seen together, these two cases appear to validate claims that China is a scapegoat. Of course, the difference in the two cases might be the fact France is censoring Neo-Nazi speech whereas China is censoring pro-democracy speech.
