Oddly, it's my cousin's birthday today as well. The current King of Thailand has reigned for more than 50 years and is super popular. His portrait is all over the place in Thailand: in every building and on paper and coin currency. Before my father became Christian, he used to have portraits of the king and queen hanging at our family's business, but we took them down afterwards because Thais reverence the king with almost god-like status. Anyway, it's going to be really sad when the current king passes away cause his son is apparently a jerk.
King-of-Thailand trivia: The king of Thailand was born in Massachusetts while his father was completing a medical degree at Harvard!
